Zschuppe earns second consecutive ASUN Player of the Week honor

Senior midfielder leads the country in goals

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's soccer senior midfielder Erika Zschuppe earned her second consecutive ASUN Player of the Week award, the conference announced Monday.

Zschuppe extended her margin as the ASUN goals leader with three on the week. She netted a brace against North Florida and buried the game-tying goal on Sunday against Jacksonville.

The Kirtland, Ohio, native leads the NCAA with 17 goals on the season. Zschuppe's scores on the week gave her seven consecutive games with a goal dating back to Sept. 11. That mark is the longest active goal scoring streak in the NCAA this season after Notre Dame's Izzy Engle's goal scoring streak came to an end at six games on Sunday.

The most consecutive games with a goal in FGCU women's soccer history belongs to Tabby Tindell, who also holds the program record for goals and goals in a single season. Tindell netted a goal in ten consecutive outings in 2016. Zschuppe's seven straight games with a goal is the second longest streak in Eagles' women's soccer history.

Zschuppe is also within striking distance of Tindell's single-season program record for goals (20) with three regular season games and the ASUN Tournament still to play.

Next, FGCU hosts West Georgia at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16.
