FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women's tennis team will use its winning momentum from last weekend and head to Georgia for two matches.
The Green and Blue (2-1) will first battle Georgia Southern Saturday at 1 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. but was pushed to a later time due to the weather conditions.
On Sunday the Eagles will battle Mercer University at 12 noon. That match was set to play Friday but was postponed due to cold temperatures in Macon.
The Eagles are coming off a 5-2 victory over Middle Tennessee State University Friday and a 4-2 win against Minnesota Saturday.
Ashley Matz was named this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week for two singles wins and one doubles wins on court No. 1.
Georgia Southern (1-1) is coming off a 6-1 defeat at No. 25 UCF Sunday and the Bears (0-1) last competed against Georgia Tech and fell 6-1.
Overall, the Eagles are 2-1 versus Georgia Southern and hold a 10-1 record over Mercer.
