FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University softball is off to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the University of North Florida on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will have a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. while Sunday will have a single game at 1 p.m.
FGCU pitching continues to shine with
Angelina Bonilla and
Allison Sparkman in the top three ERA in the ASUN conference.
Claire Maulding has been exceptional in conference play with a 0.98 ERA with a paltry 0.35 WHIP.
The Eagles offense is coming into form in conference play with
Avery Viancos and
Olivia Black both top 10 in the ASUN in batting average.
Neely Peterson has began to tap into her power with a 0.625 slugging percentage. Half of her hits have been extra base hits.
UNF is led by Allison Benning who won both ASUN pitcher and player of the week last week, D1softball.com pitcher of the week and she has been ranked as high as number four in the national two-way player rankings by Softball America.
Going into the game, FGCU is third in conference at 9-3. UNF is 10-2. FGCU is ranked 61 in RPI and UNF is ranked 82 in RPI. UNF has played four of the bottom six ASUN teams in the RPI rankings.
Following this series, the Eagles return home for a series against Stetson.
