FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU softball will start season 22 with the FGCU Kickoff Classic starting on Thursday running through Sunday. The Eagles will play six games, four against ACC opponents.
The first game of the weekend begins at 5 p.m. pn Thursday against Boston College. This Eagles-Eagles match up repeats itself on Friday at the same time.
The Green and Blue take a break from ACC foes to face Georgetown (Friday, 7:30 p.m.) and LIU (Saturday, 2:30 p.m.) before facing Louisville twice (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday 12:30 p.m.).
Florida Gulf Coast University was picked to place second by ASUN coaches this year, receiving two first-place votes.
Neely Peterson was named preseason ASUN catcher of the year by a unanimous vote.
Thursday will feature poster and magnet giveaways, Friday will have a frisbee giveaway both games, and Sunday will have free ice cream for students and a post-game run the bases.
