FGCU has played one of the toughest schedules in the country to start the season. According to
WarrenNolan.com, the Green & Blue have the No. 4 non-conference strength of schedule so far. FGCU's opening weekend opponent TCU currently ranks No. 1 in RPI for the early season.
Xavier (4-4) won the Big East Conference last season and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Musketeers were swept at Clemson to start the year but bounced back in part by taking two of three from an FGCU Atlantic Sun Conference rival, Lipscomb. Briefly last Tuesday, Xavier was down 10-2 against Cincinnati until a replay review reversed a home run call and made it 8-2. From there, Xavier would put eight runs on the board in the sixth and beat their cross-town rivals 11-9.
The series between the two teams will continue Saturday at 2 p.m., with Sunday's finale at 1 p.m.
