Eagles set to host FGCU Invitational, welcome Washington

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University softball will host the second tournament of the season Friday through Sunday followed by a midweek match up against the Washington Huskies.

The Eagles (1-5) will welcome Akron (0-0), Delaware (2-3), and Middle Tennessee State (0-5) in the FGCU Invitational over the weekend before welcoming No. 5 Washington (3-1) on Tuesday.

The FGCU Kickoff Classic saw Angelina Bonilla deal from the mound going 12 innings, striking out 14, recording a 1.17 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.

The FGCU Invitational will see MTSU who travelled to the NorCal Classic suffering five losses to California teams, Delaware who dropped three of five games at the Gardner Webb Tournament, and Akron who begins their season on Friday.

Washington picked up a midweek matchup against the Eagles. The Huskies are competing in to Tampa area tournaments surrounding the Tuesday game. The Huskies are ranked fifth in the country and opened the season 3-1 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. They run-ruled No. 17 Nebraska 8-0 and lost to No. 1 Oklahoma in extras 4-3 (8 inn.).
