FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women's basketball hosts the New College of Florida for a 4 p.m. Wednesday contest at Alico Arena.

The Eagles will face the Mighty Banyans for the first time in program history Wednesday. The Mighty Banyans (6-3) are an NAIA school in Sarasota, Florida, and are members of The Sun Conference. FGCU has won 35 straight games at Alico Arena for the nation's second-longest active home winning streak. 2024 National Champion South Carolina leads the country at 61 consecutive wins at home.

The Green and Blue went a perfect 19-0 at home last season, which included their eighth straight ASUN Tournament Championship run. The last FGCU home loss occurred Dec. 11, 2022, against Duke, nearly two years ago.

First-year head coach Chelsea Lyles still remains undefeated, now at 5-0 on the year with a Big East and "Power 4" victory already added to her resume. Lyles is one of only two active coaches in DI women's college basketball to hold a perfect coaching record, joining Jan Jensen of Iowa at 8-0. FGCU checked in at No. 7 overall in last week's CollegeInsider's.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. The latest version of the poll will be released Tuesday evening.

FGCU posted a 2-0 record as the hosts of the Homewood Suites Classic, defeating Cal Baptist 66-56 and Chattanooga 61-53. In the final quarter on Saturday, Casey Santoro caught fire from deep with three straight triples in under a minute to lift FGCU past Chattanooga. Dolly Cairns provided a season-high 21 points Friday to put away Cal Baptist. As a team, FGCU is averaging 7.3 made 3-pointers per game. The Eagles (5-2) have held six of its seven opponents this season to under 60 points with a season-high allowed of 62.

Preseason ASUN Player of the Year Emani Jefferson leads the Eagles in scoring with 13.3 points per game. Maddie Antenucci is also averaging double digits at 10.9 points per game.
