Men's tennis opens up fall schedule at Bedford Cup

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Following a change of plans in competing at the ITA Regionals from Oct 10-15, Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis will start the fall slate with the Bedford Cup in Gainesville, Fla. from Oct 25-27.

FGCU will travel eight up to Gainesville for the competition. This will provide a good early test for the Eagles to gauge the ability of the team heading into the spring slate.

The Bedford Cup is an annual fall competition featuring college teams from around Florida. Last year, it was hosted by UCF in Orlando. The Eagles dominated the doubles B draw, winning every match they had against another school. The only loss came when FGCU doubles teams Philipp Bosse and Harry Michalowski competed against Eric Oncins and Mike Bunjes.

In the singles draw, Bosse and Hugo Magnusson both earned wins in the A draw and Oncins went on a run in the B draw consolation bracket to the final.

Following this competition, FGCU will return to Southwest Florida for the Bonita Bay Classic.
