Eagles return home to face Queens and West Georgia

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer hosts Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday at 7 p.m. and University of West Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m. Dirty Bird mugs & koozies will be available to the first 50 Dirty Birds in attendance Thursday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Eagles bounced back with a 2-1 win Sunday to close a three-match road slate, defeating Bellarmine on the road in come-from-behind fashion. FGCU now enters the weekend 4-5-1 and 3-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. At 3-1 in league play, the Eagles are currently tied for second in the conference standings alongside Eastern Kentucky.

Queens (5-5-2, 1-1-2 ASUN) is seventh overall and West Georgia (2-8, 1-3 ASUN) is tied for 10th in their first season as a member of the ASUN. Central Arkansas sits atop the conference at 3-0-1 in league action.

Thursday marks just the third all-time meeting between the Eagles and the Royals as FGCU leads the series 1-0-1. FGCU tied Queens 1-1 a season ago in Fort Myers. Ashley Labbe scored the Eagles' lone goal last year, and the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year leads the team this season with five goals, which ranks third in the conference.

On Sunday, Labbe provided a goal, an assist and a defensive save to lift the Eagles past Bellarmine. Queens is coming off back-to-back ties against Jacksonville and North Florida. FGCU defeated both Jacksonville and North Florida 2-0 to begin its conference slate.

FGCU will face West Georgia for the first time in program history Sunday. The Wolves recorded their first-ever ASUN win Sunday against Jacksonville. West Georgia will face Stetson on Thursday before traveling down to Fort Myers on Sunday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Molina continues to lead the conference in saves with 66, ranking 13th overall in the nation. Her 6.60 saves per match ranks eighth nationally.
