FGCU returns for three-match home stretch, hosts North Alabama on Thursday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer begins a three-match home stretch to finish out the regular season starting this Thursday, hosting North Alabama at Pickering Field for Kick Cancer Night. Wear pink for the 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.

For tickets, purchase online HERE or at the gate. Single-game tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for military and youth (ages 4-12). For groups of 10 or more, tickets start at $6. FGCU students, faculty and staff are free with a valid Eagle I.D.

FGCU (7-5-2) returns home after earning four points last weekend, a come-from-behind 2-2 draw at Lipscomb and scoring two goals in the final five minutes to defeat Austin Peay 3-1 to remain in the regular season championship race alongside Central Arkansas. FGCU (6-1-1, 19 pts) trails Central Arkansas (6-0-2, 20 points) by one point in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, and the Eagles host the Bears on Sunday.

In 2023, the Green and Blue defeated North Alabama in the ASUN Championship match, advancing 3-2 on penalty kicks to punch their ticket back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. FGCU has won the ASUN's regular season or tournament title in 12 out of the last 14 seasons.

Erika Zschuppe scored a second-half hat trick in just 14 minutes to tie the match at three goals apiece. Zschuppe is tied for the team lead in goals scored this season with six. The Preseason ASUN Player of the Year Ashley Labbe also has six. The Eagles have scored at least one goal in each ASUN game this season for a conference-leading 25, surrendering only six.

FGCU is 4-0-1 all-time against the Lions dating back to 2018. UNA enters Thursday's match 3-11 and 1-7 in the ASUN, dropping seven straight.

Goalkeeper Olivia Molina collected her second ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Tuesday. Molina tied her career high in saves with 15 in the draw at Lipscomb. At Austin Peay, Molina recorded another double-digit save effort with 11 to help the second-place Eagles clinch a spot in the ASUN Championship field. Molina has recorded 10 or more saves in five matches this season.

Her 98 saves on the year paces the conference, ranking fourth overall in the nation. The next closest ASUN goalkeeper has 79 saves. The national lead is 113 courtesy of Makaila Riedel from Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Molina broke the program's single-season save record last year as a freshman with 117. She is just 20 away from breaking her own record. Her 6.86 saves per game rank fifth in the country. Molina has produced three three cleans this season, two in ASUN play.
