Eagles begin road jaunt at Queens

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University will begin a two-game Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball road trip Wednesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina as the Eagles take on Queens University of Charlotte. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. in a game that will stream via ESPN+.

The Eagles (7-10, 1-1 ASUN) have won four of their last five games, including the season's league opener against Jacksonville University last Thursday at Alico Arena, 80-70. The Eagles won three of their four games as part of their four-game homestand that concluded with last Saturday's loss to the University of North Florida.

Keeshawn Kellman is currently on a two-game double-double streak. Against JU, Kellman had 14 points and 10 rebounds, with eight of those coming off the offensive glass. In the contest with UNF, the senior had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dallion Johnson has scored in double-figures in three consecutive games, going back to the 72-68 over then-No. 7 Florida Atlantic University. In that contest, Johnson scored 18 points en route to ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors. He followed that up with 12 points against JU and a team-best 17 points against UNF.

FGCU's most consistent scorer this season has been Zach Anderson. The junior has only missed out on double-figures in points in four of FGCU's 17 contests this season. The Apopka native has started every game and has a team-leading 31.0 minutes per game played.

The Eagles will be looking for their first-ever win over the Royals. The two teams played each other for the first time last season in Charlotte, with the Royals winning last year's first meeting 84-82 in Charlotte. The teams would meet again in the ASUN Championship First Round, with the Royals winning 61-55 in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Following Wednesday night's contest, the Eagles will travel to Kennesaw to take on Kennesaw State University Friday night.
