Eagles drop home contest to Lipscomb

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Isaiah Thompson was one of four scorers in double-figures for the Eagles as he led the way for Florida Gulf Coast University with 19 points, but Lipscomb University pulled away in the second half for a 98-72 victory in Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball action.

FGCU (8-13, 2-4 ASUN) trailed 40-34 at the half but rallied back to tie the game within the first three minutes of the second half at 43-all. Lipscomb would hold a 46-44 lead after a Thompson free-throw, but the Bisons (13-8, 4-2 ASUN) would score eight quick points in a row to take the lead for good.

Zach Anderson and Keeshawn Kellman each had 14 points for FGCU. For Kellman, his 6-of-7 shooting night puts him at 70.9 percent from the field for the year. Having reached the statistical made field goal minimum, he now leads the country in field goal percentage. Franco Miller, Jr., was FGCU's fourth double-figure scorer with 10 points on the evening.

Derrin Boyd had a game-high 38 points for the Bisons, who shot 65.5 percent (36-of-55) from the field.

The Eagles will close out their ASUN homestand this Saturday against Austin Peay. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
