CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 30 FGCU baseball team (32-11 overall, 15-5 ASUN Conference) continued its barrage on the college baseball world – and its own record books – Saturday, crushing three more home runs in a 12-7 victory over Austin Peay at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The homer barrage gives the Eagles 105 this season, which leads the nation and continues to re-write their own single-season school record. The Green & Blue has bashed seven homers against Austin Peay in two games, and locked up its sixth ASUN series victory out of seven so far this season.

Although it did not notch a double Saturday, FGCU (102 two-baggers) is the only team in the country with 100-plus homers and 100-plus doubles. More importantly, Saturday's victory kept the Eagles even with Lipscomb atop the ASUN standings – two games clear of third-place Stetson (13-6 in league play).

FGCU's hottest hitter – junior infielder Edrick Felix (Orlando, Fla./Victory Charter HS/College of Central Florida) – put the Green & Blue on top immediately by belting a three-run homer to left-center in the first inning for a 3-0 lead.

Earning his ninth start behind the plate, junior catcher Mac Moise (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker HS) doubled FGCU's lead in the second with a three-run homer that followed almost the identical path as Felix's blast to make it 6-0.

That margin was more than enough for FGCU freshman right-hander Justin Henschel (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation HS), who scattered six hits over 5 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts and just one walk to earn his fifth victory of the season.

"Henschel was really good, the best he has probably looked all season," said FGCU head baseball coach Dave Tollett. "He had command of all three pitches and was really tough."

Austin Peay scored a lone run in the fourth to narrow it to 6-1, but FGCU kept piling on in the fifth. Senior pitcher/outfielder Stephen Wilmer (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview HS/Pasco-Hernando State/ECU) pounded the Green & Blue's third three-run homer – Wilmer's second home run in as many days – and senior designated hitter Joe Kinker (North Port, Fla./Venice HS) added a two-run single straight up the middle for an 11-1 advantage.

"This offense is who we are," Tollett said. "We were hitting balls well in the air, and they were carrying even with no wind. It's just kind of our identity."

The Governors managed to tack on three runs against a tiring Henschel in the sixth, added one via a double-play groundout in the seventh and two more in the ninth on a two-run homer for the final margin.

Wilmer and senior catcher/infielder Alejandro Rodriguez (Cidra, Puerto Rico/Montverde Academy/Eastern Florida State) each had two of FGCU's nine hits. Graduate outfielder Brian Ellis (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) went 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch, which makes 58 for his career and evens him with Chris Perry (2003-06) for the FGCU career HBP record. Ellis also extended his unofficial NCAA record for consecutive games safely reaching base to 112 games.

FGCU and Austin Peay finish the series at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Eagles were not certain of their Sunday starter as of Saturday night, while the Governors expect to start Jacob Weaver.
