FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men's basketball team (14-10 overall, 4-7 ASUN Conference) looks to get back on track Saturday night in its most successful locale of the 2022-23 season when the Green & Blue take on visiting North Alabama at Alico Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game is available to view on ESPN+.

FGCU has dropped four straight decisions and six of its last seven, but is a sparkling 7-2 in The Nest this season. The Eagles set a new school record in January with their 13th straight home victory, a streak that began at the end of the 2021-22 season.

Although North Alabama (13-11, 5-6) has won four of its last five, the Lions are coming off a 79-57 loss at Stetson on Thursday night. Sophomore guard Daniel Ortiz led UNA with 14 points, while junior guard K.J. Johnson had 12 points and junior forward Damian Forrest added 10 points. Sophomore forward Dallas Howell led the Lions with six rebounds.

Ortiz leads UNA in scoring at 13.6 points per game, while Johnson drops 11.9 and freshman guard Jacari Lane adds 10.9 points per outing. Forrest leads the Lions at 6.7 rebounds per game – good for fifth in the ASUN. North Alabama is seventh in the conference offensively, scoring 74.8 points per game. Defensively, the Lions rank 11th by giving up 73.9 points per contest.

FGCU turned in one of its strongest offensive performances of the season Thursday night, but fell short against Central Arkansas 91-87 at Alico Arena. Junior guard Isaiah Thompson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville HS/Purdue) recorded a career-high 29 points – the most by any Eagle this season – on 9-of-18 shooting. Thompson made six of FGCU's 14 3-pointers, and also grabbed four rebounds, dished four assists and had one steal.

Junior guard Chase Johnston (Boca Raton, Fla./Westminster Academy/Stetson) came off the bench to score 20 points, matching Thompson's triple rate with six 3s of his own. Graduate guard Caleb Catto (Cape Coral, Fla./Southwest Florida Christian Academy) scored 11 points and tied the FGCU high with six rebounds, and sophomore center Andre Weir (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna College Prep/Richmond) added 10 points and six rebounds.

Thompson leads FGCU with 14.3 points per game, while Anderson drops 12.5 points and Johnston adds 11.8 points per outing. Anderson and Weir are 2-3 on the ASUN rebounding list, respectively delivering 7.4 and 7.0 rebounds per game. FGCU'a 70.9 points per game rank 10th in the ASUN, while the Eagles defense is fifth in the conference by allowing 68.8 points per contest.

Saturday's game celebrates Azul the Eagle's birthday, and FGCU fans are encouraged to wear blue. After facing North Alabama, the Green & Blue hit the road for a three-game Sunshine State road trip – taking on North Florida at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jacksonville at 4 p.m. on Feb. 11 and Stetson at 7 p.m. Feb. 15.
