Chambers adds Outlaw for 2026-27

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball head coach Pat Chambers announced the signing of Charles "CJ" Outlaw on Thursday to conclude the 2026 portal class.

"CJ Outlaw is a big with tremendous athletic ability and an explosive presence around the basket. He plays well above the rim, finishes with authority, and brings great energy on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he protects the rim at a high level while also having the versatility to defend multiple positions.

Outlaw comes to FGCU from UMass, where he played for the 2025-26 season. In 2024-25, Outlaw started 37 games for the NJCAA national champion Trinity Valley Community College and shot 73% from the field en route to the national championship. Outlaw spent his freshman season at Mineral Area College. He played in 32 games and started three, shooting 72.7% from the field.

The son of Bo and stepmother Tamara Outlaw, he has four brothers, Grey, Myles, JJ and James. His father, Bo, played 15 seasons in the NBA with the Magic, Clippers, Suns and Grizzlies. He finished in the top eight of Defensive Player of the Year voting three times and finished in the top eight of Sixth Man of the Year voting once.
