FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 28 FGCU women's basketball team (20-3 overall, 8-1 ASUN Conference) hits the road Thursday afternoon to take on Jacksonville (9-10, 3-6) at Swisher Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., with the action available to view on ESPN+.
FGCU has won 16 of its last 18 games – including an 86-44 home victory Saturday night against Bellarmine that saw the Green & Blue pile up a season-best 32 points in the first quarter. The Eagles are perched atop the ASUN standings, a full game ahead of Austin Peay, Liberty and Lipscomb – which are each 7-2 in conference play.
Jacksonville looks to rebound from a 74-70 loss at North Florida on Thursday night. Redshirt senior Shynia Jackson scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in the setback.
Graduate guard Seraphine Bastin leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per outing.
Thursday's game will be the 37
th meeting between the Eagles and the Dolphins, with FGCU leading 33-3. The Green & Blue recorded a 77-51 victory over Jacksonville on Jan. 5, 2022, at Alico Arena in their last matchup.
FGCU's victory over Bellarmine last weekend was the ninth time out of 20 wins this season that the Green & Blue scored 85 or more points.

Tishara Morehouse (
Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King HS/Nebraska CC) led all Eagles with 18 points to go with a game-high six assists and two steals. That effort was Morehouse's 13
th time the Eagles in scoring this season, and her 19
th double-digit output of 2022-23.

Morehouse leads the Eagles this season with 16.3 points per game, which ranks her second in the ASUN. Winston adds 14.0 points per outing, and Carter adds 11.6 points per game.
Stiles and Carter are both tied in rebounds with 5.0 per game. Graduate guard

Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon Campus/Albany) leads the team with 99 assists, and Morehouse is close behind with 83. Morehouse also leads the Green & Blue with 42 3-pointers, with Winston close behind with 40 triples.
After Thursday's game, the Eagles remain in Duval County to take on North Florida (6-13, 4-3) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Green & Blue have now hit 258 3-pointers, for an average of 11.2 treys per game – the highest total and per-game average in the country. FGCU has more than doubled their opponents' treys total, allowing only 97 this season. FGCU's run to its 2021-22 national ranking was due to the Eagles' continued dominance behind the 3-point arc. The Eagles have led the nation in made threes per game the past three years and in four of the last five seasons -- with an NCAA single-season record total 431 in 2017-18.
Entering this season, the Eagles were selected by both the coaches and the media to repeat as ASUN champions. FGCU is currently ranked No. 4 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Eagles finished with a program-best-ever No. 20 ranking in 2021-22 and have four Top 25 finishes in the past five seasons. Further, only the Green & Blue and defending national champion South Carolina have won at least 30 games in five of the last eight campaigns.

FGCU head coach
Karl Smesko maintains a record of 630-131 (.828) overall in his career, the third-highest winning percentage among active Division I coaches behind only UConn's Geno Auriemma and LSU's Kim Mulkey. He has also led the Eagles to a 239-19 (.926) mark in ASUN regular-season play and a 30-2 (.938) record in ASUN tournament play. Over the previous 10-plus seasons, he has guided FGCU to a 165-6 (.965) record in conference play with six undefeated seasons. The 12-time ASUN Coach of the Year has led the program to 12-straight 25-win seasons and 18 consecutive 20-win campaigns, including 30-plus wins in five of the last eight years. On top of all that, the Eagles are 569-104 (.845) all-time since Smesko started the program in the 2002-03 season, and the Green & Blue's .845 all-time winning percentage is the best in NCAA Division I women's basketball history.

ABOUT FGCU
FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 94 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 15-plus seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just 11-plus seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 47 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. In 2022, the men's golf team became the first program to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 20, 2021-22 and No. 25 in 2022-23) beach volleyball (No. 20, 2022) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as four of the most recent.
