FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University will be looking to get back on track Wednesday night as the Eagles take on Florida International University in men's basketball action in Miami. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. in a game that will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
The Eagles (1-6) are looking to snap a five-game losing streak with tonight's contest. FGCU dropped a 71-55 decision at the hands of UNC-Wilmington last Saturday in Alico Arena.
Zach Anderson,
Chase Johnston, and
Isaiah Thompson each scored 12 points in the loss to the Seahawks.
While the Eagles have lost five in a row, the loss to UNCW featured the largest point differential in any FGCU loss this season. The Eagles lost by just three to Norfolk State, seven to Hampton, and nine to Missouri State. FGCU had a chance to tie against NSU, but the final shot went awry.
FIU (2-6) just won on its home court at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center for the first time last Sunday. The Panthers topped future Conference USA foe and current FGCU Atlantic Sun Conference foe Kennesaw State 91-84. The Panthers have also had several close losses, including a one-point defeat to Loyola Marymount, a six-point loss at Akron, and a six-point loss at Miami.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Eagles will be on the road Sunday to take on the University of Cincinnati. Tip-off in that game is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
