FORT MYERS, Fla. --- The FGCU baseball team (27-18) will host Jacksonville in a best-of-three ASUN quarterfinal final series this weekend inside Swanson Stadium, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. matchup on Friday night. The action continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the if necessary game at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a series that will kick off the 42nd all-time conference tournament.

Tickets are available for $8 ahead of the event and $9 the day of the game. Fans can purchase tickets by stopping by the Alico Arena Ticket Office, by calling 866-FGCU-TIX or by visiting FGCUtickets.com. Each game of the series will be streamed live on YouTube, and live stats will be provided for each game. Links for each game are at the top of this story and on the baseball schedule page. David Moulton will be on the call with play-by-play on Friday, and Mike Folta will handle Saturday and Sunday.

The Eagles, who won the ASUN's South Division championship to claim the top seed, are 5-1 this year against the fourth-seeded Dolphins (11-31), who are 4-3 over their past seven games. FGCU is 28-17 all-time in the head-to-head series, which includes a 15-7 record at home and a 3-0 record in the ASUN tournament.  The winner of this weekend's series will advance to the ASUN's four-team double-elimination final four tournament at Harmon Stadium in Jacksonville May 27-29.

Once the quarterfinal round is over, the highest remaining seed from the north division will play the lowest seed still standing from the south, while the south's high seed will play the north's low seed in the other semifinal. Thus, should FGCU advance to the semifinals, they would play at 3 p.m. against the lowest remaining north seed. For fans interested in the full bracket, visit here.

This year will feature FGCU's ninth appearance in the tournament, which introduces a new format due to divisional play. In eight previous appearances, the Eagles are 16-15 overall, which includes winning the title in 2017 behind a pair of championship round victories over Jacksonville on the final day. They also had a runner-up finish in 2016 and third place finishes in 2015, 2014 and 2012.

Jacksonville, meanwhile, will be making their 15th all-time appearance with championships in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2009. The Dolphins are 31-27 over 58 games, and their 1999 title was in their inaugural appearance. After last year's tournament was canceled due to Covid-19, Liberty will be looking to defend their title from 2019 as the top seed out of the north. In fact, Jacksonville and Liberty are the only two current ASUN teams to win it all in their first appearances.

Notes
The conference's postseason awards (athletic and academic) are scheduled to be announced on Thursday.

Additionally, in just nine seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 42 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 21, 2020-21), beach volleyball (No. 20, 2021) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 - being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
