FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men's soccer team (0-1) will host in-state rival FAU (3-0-1) Tuesday night before traveling to the River City for a Saturday afternoon contest against North Florida (2-1) to open up ASUN play.

The Green and Blue
FGCU opened up its season last Wednesday night in Miami, falling to the 25th-ranked FIU Panthers by a 3-2 margin. The Eagles got on the board first with a goal in the 23rd minute by O'Vonte Mullings  (Toronto, Ontario/Northview Secondary Height) inside the penalty area – assisted by Martin Veys  (Caen, France/Jeanne d'Arc/Nebraska Omaha) – but the Panthers would take a 2-1 lead after scoring in the 27th and 29th minute.

The Eagles found the equalizer in the 58th minute as a header in the box from Markus Maurer (Friedrichshafen, Germany/Monroe College) tighten the affair – assisted by Darius Kerr-Cooper (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary's HS) from 25-yards out. The contest remained close in possession over the next 15 minutes until a loose ball inside the five-yard box found the foot of FIU's Alessandro Campoy in the 75th minute.

Mullings leads the Eagles with four shots (three on goal) while keeper Gustavo Vasconcelos (Recife, Brazil/Colegio GGE) recorded a pair of saves on opening night in his 90 minutes.

FAU
The Owls are off to a 3-0-1 start this spring with each victory coming against ASUN squads. Three days ago, FAU traveled for the first time this season, taking down Jacksonville in a 4-0 contest. Alonso Coello leads the Owls in points (four) and shots (eight) and has one game-winner to his name. In between the pipes, Neil Strauber has started each of the four matches, producing 15 saves for a 0.24 goals-against average (GAA).

The all-time series between both programs is tied 5-5. FAU claimed the last match on its own turf by a score of 3-1 in 2019.

North Florida
The Ospreys' 2-1 record is highlighted by a win over the 25th-ranked FIU squad this past Sunday where they pulled out a 1-0 victory in Miami. North Florida's two goals this spring have been produced by Ale Rodriguez and Robbie Soronellas – they each lead the team with three shots apiece.

FGCU leads the all-time series, 11-2-3, winning the last four of five games. In the River City, FGCU is 5-0-2.
