Eagles Golf Classic raises over $53,000 for student-athletes

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU athletics department hosted the 2019 Eagles Golf Classic on May 2 at Bonita Bay Club and experienced another record breaking year, raising over $53,000 – all proceeds utilized for the benefit of Eagle student-athletes.

"We believe that the FGCU Eagles Golf Classic has quickly become one of the best charity golf events in Southwest Florida," said Dr. Bob Ryan, FGCU's Assistant to the AD for Special Events. "This year we had our fourth straight sell out (248 players) at the beautiful Bonita Bay Club (with a significant 85 percent returned from 2018). In turn, we would like to thank our very generous sponsors, as well as each of the participants who helped make this event another great success and provided tremendous feedback to make our future outings even better in our pursuit to assist FGCU student-athletes. To this extent, we already are looking forward to next May 7 (again at the Bonita Bay Club) and to relay that, in addition to the normal low net prizes, that we will be adding a low gross award to both the Men's and Ladies divisions."

Coupled with their two additional annual fundraisers, both of which also generated record net revenue results (Night at the Nest - $601,000; Final Four Getaway Drawing - $32,000), the Eagles Club's trio of 2018-19 special events garnered a best ever combined $686,000.
