SERIES HISTORY VS. QUINNIPIAC
•    This will be the second series overall between the Eagles and the Bobcats.
•    The teams first met in 2016 when Quinnipiac traveled to Fort Myers for a four-game weekend set.
•    The Eagles claimed the series 3-1.
•    The Bobcats' lone victory of the weekend was a 10-9 win in the second game of a doubleheader.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
•    Quinnipiac (3-4) opened its 2019 season with a series at UNC Greensboro. The Bobcats dropped the first two games by scores of 12-5 and 8-2 before the third game was canceled due to weather.
•    So far, their non-conference schedule has been highlighted by an 8-6 victory at No. 20 Wake Forest.
•    The victory over the Demon Deacons was the Bobcats' first over a ranked opponent since defeating Virginia 13-11 on March 8, 2004.
•    Senior Tyler Poulin recorded 12 strikeouts through 6.1 innings of work. Poulin's 12 K's were the most in a victory over a Top 20 opponent since the Virginia game.
•    Offensively, the team is led by Evan Vulgamore (.321). The junior has recorded two home runs, three doubles and eight RBIs so far this season.
•    Last year, the Bobcats finished 26-30 with a 16-8 mark in the MAAC.
•    At the 2018 MAAC Championship, Quinnipiac was knocked out by Monmouth and eventual champion Canisius.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
•    FGCU is ranked in the top 10 nationally in seven different categories: doubles, doubles per game, hit by pitch, hits, hits allowed per nine innings, sacrifice flies and scoring.
•    The Green and Blue check into the top five in doubles, hit by pitch and sacrifice flies.
•    Currently, the Eagles are tied for first in the nation with 12 sacrifice flies.
Christian Proffitt (Cape Coral, FL/Ida Baker HS) brought in Hayes on a sacrifice fly during last night's game at No. 5 Florida that helped the team climb the ranks.
•    FGCU ranks third in the nation in both hit by pitch (33) and doubles (34).
•   Â
Tyler Shuck (3-0) (Cape Coral, FL/Canterbury HS) is tied for first nationally with a 0.00 ERA. Of the 30 players in the tie, Shuck is one of six that have pitched more than 15.0 innings.
•    Shuck's three victories put him at fourth in the national standings.
2019 SCHEDULE
•    The Eagles have begun their 55-game campaign with a bang, opening the year playing each of their first 11 games in the friendly confines of Swanson Stadium.
•    On top of games with Ohio State and Florida, the Green and Blue will play a total of nine times against programs from Power 5 universities (ACC, Big Ten. Big 12, Pac-12, SEC).
•    FGCU is billed to play 36 home games and 19 contests on the road. Additional notable non-conference home games include dates with Rutgers (March 15-17), FAU (March 19), FIU (March 26) and Miami (April 10).
•    The first ASUN Conference action will be a three-game home series against Lipscomb April 5-7. The Eagles will then hit the road for a weekend at Kennesaw Sate April 12-14.
•    FGCU will compete 16 times against programs who have played in the NCAA Championship tournament at least once over the last two years. The mark includes a Florida squad that won the national championship two years ago and advanced to the 2018 College World Series. FGCU will also grace a Stetson program (May 3-5) that hosted an NCAA Regional last year and advanced to a Super Regional.
•    The 2019 ASUN Conference Championship will be held May 22-25 in Deland, Florida, and will be hosted by Stetson.

5X CHAMPS
The 2017 season was a magical one for the Green and Blue that ended in the program's first Division I NCAA Championship tournament berth. The Eagles ended the year 43-20, which included a midweek sweep over No. 2 Florida, single wins over No. 1 Florida State, Miami and a three-game sweep at UNC Wilmington. The wins over Miami, FSU and UF marked the first time FGCU defeated all three programs in the same season.
Reaching as high as No. 9 in the polls, the highest of any program at FGCU, the Eagles struggled in April but bounced back to finish third in the ASUN. During the ASUN Championship, FGCU won four games in a span of 29 hours for its first tournament crown.
The Green and Blue earned the No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional, defeating Michigan 10-6 before losses to Davidson and North Carolina ended their season. The tournament title added to FGCU's four regular season crowns.
