FORT MYERS, Fla. - After opening the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic on Tuesday night (Nov. 26) with a 73-59 win over the Florida Tech Panthers, the FGCU men's basketball team will now prepare for its final three games of the event. The rest of the tournament includes matchups against North Dakota, Campbell and Georgia Southern.

On Friday, Nov. 29, the Eagles (2-5) will face North Dakota (2-4) in a 7 p.m. game during Pet Appreciation Night at Alico Arena. The clash with the Fighting Hawks will be a Blue Out and will be the third overall meeting in the series between the programs, which is currently tied at 1-1. The Green and Blue won the last meeting in 2015, a 73-60 victory at the Nest.

FGCU will return to action at the Nest for a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday, Nov. 30 against Campbell (4-1). The Green Out game will be the Eagles' eighth all-time meeting against the former ASUN rivals, which currently favors FGCU 4-3. It will be Superhero Night at Alico Arena and fans are encouraged to participate in a superhero costume contest.

The Eagles will close out the holiday tournament with a 5 p.m., White Out tilt against Georgia Southern (3-2) on Sunday, Dec. 1. There will be a food eating contest and recipe sharing as part of a "Diet Starts Monday" promotion. FGCU will be looking to turn the 1-1 all-time record against the Georgia Southern Eagles in its favor.

All three FGCU games will be streamed on ESPN + and will feature a Food Drive by the Department of Athletics collecting non-perishable items to be donated to the FGCU Food Pantry and the Harry Chapin Food Bank as part of #FeedFGCU, which helps provide resources for those in need. The Eagles will also be collecting new and unwrapped toys for Golisano's Childrens Hospital and Toys For Tots.

Though the Eagles began their 2019-20 campaign with a bit of a rocky start, the team ranks statistically as one of the best in the conference. With his career-high five blocks during the game against FIT, freshman Dakota Rivers (Windermere, Fla.) now ranks 36th in the nation with 13 - the second-most of any other player in the league. As a team, FGCU averages 4.3 blocks per game which leads the ASUN.

Defensively, the Eagles also rank at the top of the league in steals per game (3rd, 6.6). Sophomore Zach Scott (Miami, Fla.) leads the effort with 12 on the season, the second-most of all ASUN players.

The trio of junior Sam Gagliardi (Gig Harbor, Wash.), sophomore Caleb Catto (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Scott lead the team from beyond the arc, each with double-digit treys so far this season. Catto and Scott have each tallied 13, while Gagliardi has added 11 in his first year in Fort Myers. As a team, the Eagles are shooting a combined 35.2 percent from long range, the third-highest in the league.

Following the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic, the Eagles will hit the road for an in-state rivalry match against FIU (4-3) on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The game against the Panthers is slated for a 7 p.m. tip and will be carried on C-USA TV.
