FORT MYERS, Fla. - The story lines are aplenty as the FGCU women's basketball team (19-3, 5-0 ASUN) will meet Jacksonville (15-5, 5-0 ASUN) in a meeting of the conference's lone two undefeated teams.

MATCHUP
The matchup is the first of two for the teams over a stretch of seven days. Should one team win both, it would create a bit of separation at the top of the conference. Should FGCUÂ win both vs Jacksonville and defeat North Florida on Thursday, coupled with a Jacksonville win over Stetson on Thursday, the Eagles would have a three-game lead over everyone else with six left.
FGCU, who remains the No. 1 team in the CollegeInsider.com and espnW mid-major polls, also continues its attempt at a Top-25 ranking in the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls. This week, the team received three votes in the AP Poll and 19 in the Coaches Poll. The 19 vote tally is just 12 shy of the amount No. 25 Iowa received, and the AP votes signaled the first time in six weeks the Eagles received any votes in that poll.
Additionally, FGCU enters the game having won nine straight and 13 of its past 14 games. Incredibly, with a win, it would give the program eight straight seasons with a 10-game winning streak and 14 straight seasons with 20 or more wins overall. On the other side, Jacksonville has won six straight and 11 of its past 12. The only loss during that stretch? An 82-50 decision to No. 8 Florida State on the road.
Saturday's game will feature the conference's top 3-point shooting team in FGCU against the conference's best team at defending the 3-point shot. In fact, the Dolphins are holding opponents to just 28.5 percent from the 3-point line this year, while FGCU ranks among the nation's top two in 3-point field goals attempted, 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goals made per game. Jacksonville also leads the ASUN in rebounds per game (43.8) and offensive rebounds per game (16.8).
THE GREEN AND BLUE
FGCUÂ is coming off a 68-54 win over USC Upstate on Monday. Despite not playing at a peak level, the Eagles held the Bisons to just six points over the final 12 minutes and forced 20 turnovers on 12 steals.
With that win, FGCU won its ninth straight game, which is tied for the eighth longest streak in the nation behind Mississippi State (20), UConn (19), Mercer (15), Baylor (14), American (10), Gonzaga (10) and Quinnipiac (10).
Taylor Gradinjan, who eclipsed 1,100 career points against Lipscomb and now has 1,108, needs 28 more to pass
Stephanie Haas (1135, 2012-16) for seventh most all-time, and she's currently played five fewer career games than Haas. She needs two more games played to pass
Katie Meador (135, 2012-16) for third most all-time, and she is seven starts shy of passing
Adrianne McNally (118, 2006-10) for second most. Additionally,
Gradinjan (Cudahy, Wis./Cudahy HS) needs five more made field goals to pass
Kelsey Jacobson (385, 2008-12) for seventh place, and she now has 952 field goal attempts. With her 10 attempts on Monday, she passed
Stephanie Haas (945, 2012-16) and is 37 shy of
Kelsey Jacobson (988, 2008-12) for sixth place.Â
Tytionia Adderly (Jupiter, Fla./Cardinal Newman HS) is just six rebounds shy of eclipsing Gradinjan (452) for seventh most on the career list. Her four offensive rebounds on Monday gave her 185 in her career and pushed her past
Courtney Chihil (183, 2008-12) for seventh most all-time. She's just two shy of passing
Kaneisha Atwater (186, 2013-16) for sixth.
Rosemarie Julien, who had her streak of 10 consecutive free throws made snapped on Monday, is still shooting .816 from the line in her career, which is just shy of
Kelsey Jacobson (.819, 2008-12) for the best mark in program history.
Julien (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast HS) is 30 points shy of 700 in her FGCU career, which has spanned 57 games.
FGCU, which enters Saturday with an 11-0 record at home this season, features the ASUN's top scoring and rebounding sophomores.
Nasrin Ulel (Murrietta, Calif./Murrietta HS) averages 10 points, while Adderly averages 8.7 rebounds. In fact, Adderly also leads all sophomores in steals at 1.7 per contest.
FGCU is the only team in the ASUNÂ with four players averaging double figure scoring - Julien (12.9 PPG),
China Dow (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy of Louisville) (10.4 PPG), Gradinjan (10.2 PPG) and Ulel (10.0 PPG)
Head coach
Karl Smesko is approaching his 600th career game as a collegiate head coach. This will be his 597th career game, and he holds a 484-112 (.811) record.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
The Dolphins feature three of the league's best player in Jasmyn Brown, Brandi Buie and Kayla Gordon.
Brown, a junior guard, is averaging a team-high 13.9 points along with 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Buie, a senior guard, is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 per contest while adding 3.9 rebounds, three assists and 1.7 steals. Gordon, a senior forward, averages 11.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and nearly one rebound per game. Another senior, Nagaiyyah Teague, is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.1 per game, while redshirt junior Shakayla Nevitt checks in at 6.5 per contest.
Buie and Gordon eclipsed 1,000 career points on Jan. 13, while Brown is on pace to do the same with 709 as a junior. Gordon has 26 career double-doubles, including six this year. Brown is the reigning ASUN player of the week.
Jacksonville's five losses so far this year have come to NC State in the season opener, Alabama, Florida, Troy by one point and No. 8 Florida State. All five have come on the road. In conference play, the team has started 5-0 for the fourth time in five seasons and are winning by an average margin of 26.2 points per contest.
Defensively, Jacksonville has one of the best defenses in the conference. They're allowing just 59 PPG overall and 49.6 PPG in ASUNÂ play.
Jacksonville is led by fifth-year head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, who has turned around the Dolphins program. In the three seasons prior to her arrival, the team won a combined 37 games including three losing seasons. Over the past two plus years alone, she has led the team to 60 wins, which included an NCAA Tournament berth in 2015-16 that came following a 56-54 win over FGCU in the ASUN Championship game. Overall, she is 85-59 in her four plus seasons at the helm.
SERIES HISTORY
FGCU is 20-3 all-time against Jacksonville, but the teams have split the past four meetings. Prior to that, the Eagles had won 18 straight in the series, and they are 12-1 against the Dolphins in Alico Arena. The past five meetings have been decided by eight points or fewer and four of those have been by four or fewer.

COACHÂ SMESKO
FGCU head coach Karl Smesko rallied the 2016-17 Eagles to their seventh-straight 25-win campaign, which culminated in the team's fourth NCAA tournament appearance in six seasons of eligibility. The seven-time ASUN Coach of the Year was named the espnW Mid-Major Coach of the Year in 2015-16 following a run that witnessed the Eagles finish a best-ever 33-6. Over a five-year stretch starting in 2011-12, FGCU racked up four ASUN seasons with a perfect record and capped the run with back-to-back 30 plus win seasons. In 2014-15, the team earned its first top-25 ranking and another NCAA Tournament trip as a seven seed, where FGCU won its first ever NCAA Division-I Tournament game against No. 10 Oklahoma State. With 26 wins in 2016-17, Smesko has guided the Eagles to 13-straight 20-win seasons. He maintains a record of 423-85 (.832) at FGCU, including a 162-15 (.915) mark in ASUN play. Over the past six + seasons, he has guided FGCU to a 98-3 (.970) record in conference play with four undefeated seasons. Smesko earned his 400th career coaching win in 2014-15 in just 493 career games, two games faster than UConn's Geno Auriemma. He holds a career head coaching record of 484-112 (.811). Smesko ranks among an elite list of just four active Division I coaches with a career win percentage of .800 or higher, joining Auriemma, Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Stanford's Tara VanDerveer in the esteemed group.
