KENNESAW, Ga. – Leading 1-0 in the top of the 5th inning the rubber match between the FGCU softball team and Kennesaw State was cancelled due to weather and will not be rescheduled. The Eagles (22-24, 4-7 ASUN) led the Owls (32-15,8-6) 1-0 with
Riley Randolph perfect through four inning but rain brought an end to the contest.
The Eagles scored a run in the second inning on a
Bri Innamorato (Mullica Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS) sacrifice fly and
Randolph (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northeast HS) continued to pester the Owl bats through the first four innings of play.
FGCU now turns its attention to a midweek doubleheader against USF Wednesday before making the trip to Stetson for a three-game series next weekend.

COACH DEIROS
The founding father of FGCU softball,
David Deiros recently enters his 15th season as head coach. Hired in 2001 to build the program from the dirt up, Deiros has since guided the Eagles to 11 seasons with a winning record, eight campaigns with 35 wins and a win percentage of .669 (564-291-3). Deiros is a former head coach at the 1998 Florida State Runner-up Lely High School in Naples and is the founding head coach of the 1999 District Champion/2001 Regional Runner-up Gulf Coast High School in Naples.
