LAKEPOINT, Ga. – FGCU's
Tytionia Adderly was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week after wins over North Florida and Kennesaw State. The league made its announcement on Monday afternoon.
Adderly (Jupiter, Fla./Cardinal Newman) opened the week with five points, four rebounds and four steals against North Florida. On Saturday, she earned her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds, including a career-high eight offensive boards, in just 21 minutes of play versus Kennesaw State. The freshman recorded her first double-double when the Eagles traveled to face Kennesaw State earlier in the season.
With the help of Adderly's tough defensive play, FGCU held the Owls to just 28.9 percent from the floor and allowed 1-of-11 three pointers resulting in just 35 points- the lowest output of any FGCU Division I opponent this year.
This is the first ASUN weekly award of her career and the eighth for FGCU this season.
Adderly and the Eagles continue conference play tonight at Alico Arena with a 7 p.m. tipoff against Lipscomb.
