@FGCU_WTEN Makes Trip to the Big Peach For A Trio of Weekend Matches

ATLANTA, Ga. – With two highly competitive matches against high-class competition in the books (UCF and No. 68 Syracuse), the Eagles will head to Atlanta hoping to claim their first victory this season.

The weekend of matches will give the Green and Blue three chances to add to their win total, beginning on Friday, Jan. 30, against Louisiana Tech.  They will follow up with Georgia State on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Middle Tennessee on Sunday, Feb 1.

The weekend matches will be hosted by Georgia State with Friday's scheduled at 10 a.m., Saturday's at 10 a.m., and Sunday's at 8 a.m. All matches will be played outside at Piedmont Park weathering permitting, and if needed the matches will be held indoors at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Updates of changes will be posted throughout the weekend by following @FGCU_WTEN on Twitter.

LAST TIME OUT
FGCU took the courts this past Friday in Orlando against the Knights of Central Florida.  Despite a strong opening match victory from the Means sisters, the Eagles ultimately fell by a score of 6-1.

SCOUTING LA TECH
The Eagles are familiar with their first opponent as they faced off with LA Tech last January.  The Green and Blue notched a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs, who return five players from last year's squad.  LA Tech finished the 2013-14 regular season with a 15-7 record overall before falling to Marshall in the second round of the Conference USA tournament.

The Bulldogs entered their previous match against Nicholls State with an eight game home win streak before it was snapped in a 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Colonels.  The loss puts them at 0-3 on the season, with their first two defeats coming against No. 55 Wichita State and no. 19 Oklahoma State.  The top doubles pairing of Alexandra Starkova and Jazmin Britos are still in search of their first win of the season.  In singles, Alexandra Starkova is the only member of the Bulldogs team to record at least two wins at this point in the season (2-1).

SCOUTING NO. 61 GEORGIA STATE
Georgia State is coming off of a historic season that saw it send a representative to the NCAA championship final four and reach the round of 32 as a team. The Panthers lost their season opener to No. 68 Maryland before shutting out Elon, 4-0.  Top pairing Tarani Kamoe and Linn Timmermann (1-1) set the tone in the doubles competition with a 6-4 victory while Niri Rasolomalala (1-1) secured a convincing two set triumph (6-3, 6-3) to lead Georgia State to their first win of the season.

SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The Blue Raiders are coming off of last season's 12-10 campaign in which they barely fell to No. 19 Tulsa in the Conference USA tournament quarterfinals by a score of 4-3.  Middle Tennessee has carried that momentum into this year as they have already fought their way to a 3-2 record which has been headed by No. 67 ranked singles player Tiffany William. The Blue Raiders most recent match was a thriller against No. 33 Tennessee that ultimately saw the Vols take a 4-3 triumph.
