Box Score KENNESAW, Ga. - The Florida Gulf Coast women's soccer team gave up three second half goals to pre-season league favorite Kennesaw State to fall 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the KSU Soccer Complex. The Eagles record falls to (5-4, 1-1 A-Sun), and the Owls improve to (7-2, 2-0 A-Sun).
The Eagles had a chance to score early in the 4th minute when Sophomore Amber McCall (Fort Myers, Fla.) sent a shot that was saved by KSU goalkeeper Katie Piotrowski.
After the teams battled for 65 minutes of scoreless play, the Owls notched their first goal when Annie Phillips received a pass from Caitlin Dingle just inside the penalty area, to scored her sixth goal of the season to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
Just three minutes later, Caitlin Dingle sent a low header off a pass from Sara Clapham to make the score 2-0.
The Owls would add one more goal just four seconds from full time when Maylee Attin-Johnson took control of a free kick from Bridget Gaughan and sent a shot off that deflected off the right post and into the net.
The Eagles were out-shot 12-2 in the first half, and 20-6 overall. Second leading scorer in the A-Sun, freshman Lindsey Haw (Palm City, Fla.), was held to no shots on goal.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday October 4th at 7:00 pm when they play host to A-Sun opponent Campbell University at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
