Ebonie Halliburton scored 18 points, junior forward Katie Schrader had 13 points and #24 Florida Gulf Coast played solid defense in beating West Florida 56-51 Thursday night at Alico Arena.
With the game tied at 46-46 with 6:03 remaining, Schrader and Halliburton both hit a pair of free three throws to key a 10-5 run as FGCU (11-0 overall, 11-0 South Region) remained unbeaten.
The Eagles held the Argonauts to just 10 points in the final 10:21 of the game. FGCU held UWF'â„¢s leading scorer Michelle Gibson to seven points.
The Argos opened the second half with a 15-5 run to tie the game at 37-37 with 14:43 to play after the Eagles closed the first half on a 17-5 spurt to lead 32-22 at the break. But the Eagles, who were held to just five field goals in the second half, converted 23-of -32 free throws in the contest to pull out the win.

Alex Nelson added nine points for the Eagles, while Schrader pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Senior guard
Candy Myers had eight points to become FGCU'â„¢s all-time leading scorer with 729 points. UWF was led by Erin Vierling'â„¢s 13 points and 12 rebounds.
FGCU hosts their 3rd Annual FGCU Classic on December 20-21 and will meet Christian Brothers on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
