FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. '" The Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team improved to 18-4 with a three-game victory (30-17, 30-15, and 30-26) over Nova Southeastern in a NCAA Division II South Region match Wednesday night.
The Eagles used a strong defense and a solid offensive attack to register their second three-game sweep of the Knights this fall. FGCU hit .308 for the match and held Nova to a .089 attack percentage.
Freshman
Heather Van Olst (Loxahatchee) led the Eagles with 11 kills and .316 attack percentage. Junior hitter
Devon Watts (Somerville, TX) recorded nine kills and a .421 attack percentage and senior
Kristy Hartley (Naples) pitched in with eight kills. Defensively, freshman libero
Whitney Hendry added 14 digs while Van Olst added eight.
Now ranked sixth in the NCAA South Region, the Eagles travel to Florida Tech for a 7 p.m. match on Friday night.
