Susie Lennertz is in her second year as the Assistant to the Athletic Director and seventh year overall with FGCU after joining the Eagles in September 2017. Previously with the Eagles, Lennertz was the primary administrative contact person for the Outdoor Sports Complex (OSC).
The primary administrative contact person for the department, she also serves in a liaison role for the eight teams housed in Alico Arena: men's and women's basketball, indoor and beach volleyball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's cross country.
While working in the OSC, Lennertz facilitated coordination between the OSC coaches/staff and the Athletics Business Office, including reconciliations, payroll, contracts and property records. She also assisted with team and individual travel arrangements for 11 teams and staff members, as well as tracked expenditures and processed reimbursements.
Lennertz was awarded the Stanley "Butch" Perchan Award in the 2021-22 school year. In April 2021, Lennertz was selected by her colleagues as the Florida Gulf Coast University Outstanding SP Employee of the Year.
Prior to working in athletics, Susie worked with the FGCU Testing Center for three years. She also held positions with A Better Life Chiropractic in Naples for 15 years and The Ritz-Carlton Naples for five years.
A native Floridian, Susie was born on Key Biscayne and attended Florida State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree in Recreation and Hospitality Management. While at FSU, she was the captain of the Women’s Soccer Club for those six years.
Susie is married to Reid Lennertz who is a faculty member in the School of Entrepreneurship and former Director of FGCU's Career Development Services for 19 years. In April 2021, he too was honored with the Junior Instructor Teaching Excellence of the Year award. They have two children, Lauren (20) and Grant (17).
