Shane Pellegrine, who began full-time at FGCU in August 2017 as a marketing and promotions coordinator, was elevated to assistant director of marketing and promotions in July 2018 and begins his seventh year at the school in 2023-24.
In his role, Pellegrine coordinates the planning and execution of promotions for all 15 of FGCU's Division I Sports. He was honored in May 2021 as one of the Eagles of the Quarter honoring staff members who go above-and-beyond in their service to the department and FGCU student-athletes.
In addition to that, Pellegrine assists with the official student fan group, the Dirty Birds & FGCU's mascot, Azul the Eagle in operating their social media accounts and recruitment. He additionally heads initiatives around campus and in the community such as the execution of Eagle Revolution, pep rallies, gameday operations, and the enhancement of fan experience. On top of that, he works to grow the FGCU brand through various marketing functions such as digital and print advertising.Â
Pellegrine, who is a 2017 graduate of FGCU, began interning with the marketing department early in his sophomore year before being hired part-time as a marketing assistant his junior year. In that role, he provided customer service at marketing tables, sold merchandise and assisted in on-court promotions.Â
Outside of that, the Willimantic, Conn., native spent a year playing clarinet with the FGCU basketball band and was also a member of the college’s symphonic orchestra his freshman and sophomore years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in sports.Â
