A former standout player and coach for the Eagles, Vasconcelos previously served as FGCU’s Director of Operations and Goalkeeper Coach in 2021-2022. Now, he returns to continue developing the next generation of FGCU goalkeepers.
Originally from Recife, Brazil, Vasconcelos had a historic playing career at FGCU, becoming the only goalkeeper in program history to win ASUN Conference Goalkeeper of the Year three times (2018, 2020, 2021). A three-time All-ASUN First Team selection and former team captain, he played a key role in FGCU’s 2016 ASUN Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament run, as well as the 2018 ASUN regular-season title.
Beyond college, Vasconcelos trained with the MLS Orlando City first team and developed through the Sport Clube do Recife Academy in Brazil. He was also named to the MLS Draft List in 2020 and trained with the Columbus Crew.
Academically, he holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary entrepreneurship studies and a master’s degree in educational leadership.
With his deep knowledge of the game and strong ties to FGCU’s championship culture, Vasconcelos is set to make a significant impact as he returns to the Eagles' coaching staff in 2025.
