Alex Ng 2026

Alex Ng

Alex Ng begins his third season as the associate head coach & recruiting coordinator with the Eagles in 2026-2027.

Ng has helped lead FGCU to back to back 10+ win seasons in his first two years, with the Eagles going a combined 22-11-4 during his tenure.

The Eagles caught fire down the stretch in 2025, going 7-0-1 in their final eight games of the year, outscoring their opponents 32-3 to secure the ASUN Graphite Division Championship. The Eagles finished 11-5-2 overall and 8-1-1 in conference action, reaching double figure wins for the 18th consecutive season. Erika Zschuppe had one of the best individual seasons in FGCU history as she was a unanimous selection as the ASUN Player of the Year, while also earning the 2025 ASUN Female Student-Athlete of the Year award and being named a CSC First Team Academic All-American, the first in program history. She was on both the Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List as well as the Midseason Watch List and finished the year leading the country with 1.24 goals per game. Along with Zschuppe, Lauren Dwyer and Kendal Gargiula were also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region squad. At year's end Zschuppe signed a professional contract with the Tampa Bay Sun in the Gainbridge USL Super League.

The Eagles won the ASUN Regular Season Championship in Ng's first season in Fort Myers. Going 11-6-2 overall, the Eagles season was highlighted by a scoreless draw with Florida to close out the non-conference before rolling through the ASUN with a 9-1-1 mark, outscoring their opponents 32-7 along the way. Ashley Labbe was named the ASUN Midfielder of the Year, the first in program history, while Olivia Molina became FGCU's third ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year. Labbe, Molina, Erika Zschuppe, and Kendal Gargiula were all named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Team while Zschuppe also earned USC Scholar All-American honors.

Ng arrived to FGCU with Big Ten coaching experience and also served as a Network Talent ID Scout with US Soccer for six years to identify, evaluate and recommend female players for the United States' National Teams. He currently works with Racing Louisville in the NWSL as part of their youth and college scouting team. Ng has also been named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program.

He spent 2022 and 2023 seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Maryland. Ng led all recruiting efforts and was a part of a staff that brought in the 11th ranked recruiting class in the nation for the class of 2023 and the 19th ranked recruiting class for the class of 2024.

Before Maryland, Ng spent two seasons at Richmond. As an assistant coach for the Spiders, Ng helped direct Richmond to a six-win improvement during his final season, as the Spiders secured seven wins and advanced to its first Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance in seven years. Richmond finished the season with the program's most conference wins since 2011, and all five of those wins came by way of a shutout.

Ng began his coaching career in 2015 as a student assistant for Valparaiso for four years. In 2019, he moved on to Indiana as the director of soccer operations and video analyst for the Hoosiers, where they secured eight wins and a Big Ten Tournament berth in his first year on staff.

There, he oversaw all aspects of sports performance, including training periodization, training and match warm-ups, weight lifting programs, formulating individual athlete development plans and off-season programming.

Ng is a native of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, and played collegiate football at Valparaiso as a punter.
