Monica Besserer enters her fifth year in the Hartley Academic Resource Center after being hired as an Athletic Academic Coordinator in February 2020. In her current position as Student-Athlete Academic Coordinator II, she oversees academic progress towards degree for student-athletes, leads PSA transfer articulations and supervises part-time student workers.
Prior to her current stint, she served as a Student Success Advisor for Athletics at Florida SouthWestern State College from 2018 - 2020. While working with the Bucs, she oversaw academics and graduation planning for the department and additionally assisted with admissions and registration.
Before joining FSW, Besserer spent time during her undergrad interning for the Athletic Department at Florida Gulf Coast University where she worked with the Advancement Team and directly with the Assistant Director of Development/Eagles Club Coordinator. After her internship came to an end, she was offered a position as the Eagles Club and Special Events Assistant. While in this position Besserer was responsible for event planning and assisted with donor relations and new member solicitation.
Besserer is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and Women Leaders in College Sports. She is also a graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute.
As an alumni of FGCU, Besserer earned her B.S. in Resort & Hospitality Management in 2016 and her M.S in Public Administration in 2023. She resides in Fort Myers, Florida with her husband, Kevin, and their dog Lincoln.
