Jaye Flood, who was FGCU's first-ever volleyball coach, led the program for four seasons from 2004 through 2007. She was in charge of the Eagles as they transitioned from NCAA Division II status to Division I in 2007.

In 2004, she led the program to a 24-6 record and the college's first-ever postseason berth. The team fell to No. 9 North Florida in the NCAA Division II South Region semifinals. The 2005 season ended with a loss in the regional finals as the Eagles went 27-4. In 2006, the Green and Blue went 29-3 and advanced to the regional finals for the second consecutive season. In 2007, she was named the ASUN Coach of the Year as FGCU went 23-3 overall and 10-1 in its inaugural season in the ASUN.

Prior to joining FGCU, Flood developed the Elite Volleyball Program and served as the director of USA South Volleyball. In 2003, she was honored with the USA Volleyball - Florida Region "Club of the Year" award. She also served as the athletic director at St. Ann School in Naples.

Flood spent three seasons as the head coach of Elmhurst College in Illinois, compiling a 96-34 record from 1986-88, winning three straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships. She was also named conference coach of the year all three seasons, and she led each team to the NCAA Division III tournament, including a championship match appearance in 1987. She served as an assistant with Elmhurst in 1985 after serving as an assistant on the staffs of Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Drake.

A native of Michigan, Flood was a four-year starter and co-captain at Central Michigan before graduating in 1979. She holds a Master of Arts degree in exercise science at Central Michigan.
