The 2023-34 season will be Miller's first year with the FGCUwomen's tennis program. She has played and coached tennis her entire life. Born in Tampa, Florida, she played United States Tennis Association (USTA) junior tennis and earned scholarships to play at Hillsborough Community College (Tampa) and the University of South Florida. USF qualified for the national championships in her senior year.
Kimberly and her husband Kevin were the primary coaches for their three daughters, Kristi, Kelli, and Kylie, who all played USTA competitive junior tennis. The Millers coached the high school program in Marysville, Michigan for 13 years, and their teams qualified for the state finals 12 times, finishing as a runner-up in 2002. She then helped coach one of Michigan’s top high school tennis programs at Port Huron Northern, leading them to a second-place finish in 2013 and a state championship in 2014.
Their oldest daughter, Kristi, won the Michigan singles championship as a freshman in her only season of high school tennis. Kristi went on to play #1 singles and doubles for Georgia Tech from 2003-2008, leading the Yellow Jackets to four ACC championships, two NCAA national indoor championships, and the NCAA Division I national championship in May 2007. Kristi played doubles in the US Open in 2005 and played two years on the pro tour following her graduation from Georgia Tech.
Their middle daughter Kelli was ranked in the top 50 in the Midwest and was a Michigan All-State player three times. She played collegiately for Division II Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Their youngest daughter Kylie played four years of high school tennis, leading her team to the state finals all four years, and was an All-State singles player and local player of the year in the Port Huron, Michigan area.
In 2001, Kimberly and Kevin coached a team of the top tennis players representing Southeast Michigan in the prestigious Wightman Cup, a USTA Midwest competition. Players on that team went on to play at Stanford, Ohio State, Purdue, and Georgia Tech.
The Millers have been active in the tennis community their entire lives; Kimberly has continued competing on USTA teams and has qualified for national championships in her age group several times.
Kimberly worked in education for 28 years, the last 20 as a middle school teacher.
