Maggie Davenport

Maggie Davenport joins FGCU Swimming & Diving as an assistant coach in 2026, bringing with her head coaching experience from Siena and a decorated swimming career of her own.

Davenport spent the past two seasons as the head coach of Siena's Women's Swimming and Diving program, taking over her alma mater's program in July 2024. In her first year at the helm, she led the Saints to their first ECAC Winter Championship since 2015 and was honored with ECAC Women's Coach of the Meet, becoming just the second coach in program history to earn that distinction. That season also saw the program set 22 top-10 times and four program records, highlighted by sophomore Hope Ivanovich becoming the program's first two-time single-season MAAC individual champion since 2003 and the first Siena swimmer to qualify for a national meet. In her second season, Davenport guided Siena to a 5-8 dual meet record, a 3-3 mark against conference opponents, and a ninth-place finish at the MAAC Championships, while the program set nine new top times and two new diving top scores.

Before returning to Siena, Davenport served two seasons as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at Union College, where her swimmers combined for 138 lifetime-best times, 112 championship finalist swims, 16 new top-10 program times, four school records and three NCAA B cuts. Both the Union men's and women's teams opened those seasons with four straight wins, a feat the men's program hadn't accomplished since 1966 and the women's side hadn't achieved in 17 years.

Davenport began her coaching career as a men's and women's swimming and diving assistant at SUNY New Paltz during the 2021-22 season, helping the program post 10 new top-25 relay times and 41 individual top-25 times. She has also served as head coach of the Schenectady Saratoga Sharks Swim Club and spent a year volunteering with non-profits through the Franciscan Volunteer Ministry following her undergraduate studies.

A standout swimmer in her own right, Davenport was a four-year letterwinner and team captain at Siena, competing in freestyle and breaststroke. She helped anchor the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays to top-three finishes that clinched the program's first-ever ECAC Championship in 2015, and recorded three individual and five relay first-place finishes during the 2015-16 season.

Davenport earned her B.S. in Biology from Siena in 2019 and her M.S. in Kinesiology from Southeastern University in 2022.
