Rance Terry is in his third season as assistant strength and conditioning coach for the baseball and softball programs at FGCU in 2018-19. His responsibilities include designing and implementing year-round strength, speed and conditioning workouts for the Eagles.

He is officially certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a strength and conditioning specialist, and he is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), and he has passed the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification examination as well as USA Weightlifting.

The SCCC is the most comprehensive certification of its kind and tests the candidate’s scientific knowledge, as well as their ability to apply this knowledge in a live working, practical environment. Those candidates preparing to take this certification examination must undergo an eight-to-nine month internship under the supervision of a CSCCa approved mentor. The mentor's responsibility is to guide the candidate and help him develop the skills necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach.

Terry’s first season was the most successful in program history as the Green and Blue won a program record 43 games, claimed the program's first ASUN tournament championship?and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. After starting the season 24-3 and defeating?then No. 2 and eventual national champion Florida, then No. 1 FSU and Miami in the same season for the first time ever, FGCU rose to as high as No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball News poll - marking the highest ranking ever achieved by any athletics program in school history.

The Green and Blue suffered a number of tough losses?in April, but ended the regular season by sweeping?its way through its final three conference series and earned the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Tournament. After falling into the loser's bracket following a loss on day two, FGCU won an improbable four elimination games in less than 30 hours and defeated top-seeded Jacksonville twice, including an extra-inning thriller in the winner-take-all championship. With the ASUN's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in hand, the Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional and defeated No. 3 Michigan, 10-6, in its first-ever NCAA Tournament game.

In his first two years, Terry has seen six of his players drafted as well as one ASUN player of the year and one ASUN freshman of the year.

Before coming to FGCU, Terry was the strength and conditioning coach for the Kansas City Royals minor league affiliate in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He held the same position with the St. Louis Cardinals at their State College, Penn. affiliate before going to Kansas City.

Prior to St. Louis, he served as a graduate assistant strength coach at Tarleton State University between January and March 2015. While there, Terry assisted with the development of football as well as all Olympic sports.

After graduating, Terry spent time interning at Texas Tech University and Texas Christian University working with football as well as all Olympic sports. His time at TCU included working with the 2016 No. 7 nationally-ranked Horned Frog football team ending with a victory in the Alamo Bowl as well as the No. 4 nationally-ranked baseball team that reached the national semifinal in the College World Series and had seven players drafted.

A 2012 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, Terry earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science while catching for the Chaparral baseball team. In 2015, he earned also a master's degree in kinesiology from Tarleton State.
