Tomas Cerda has been a part of FGCU soccer since his arrival on campus in 2011. Cerda began his time as a player before transitioning to a coaching role in 2013. In total, Cerda has been a part of six conference tournament championships and six regular season titles.
The former Director of Goalkeeping at Lee County Striker Soccer Club and current Goalkeeper Coach at GPS Florida West, Cerda worked with Nathan Ingham who plays professionally for FC Edmonton in the North American Soccer League. Nate holds FGCU career records for best save percentage (.762), goals against average (.98), and most shutouts (26). He also worked with Brittany Brown, who posted FGCU career records in shutouts (34), goals against average (.670), saves (263), and wins (54).
During his time with the Women’s Team, the Eagles made it to the Second Round of NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after opening the tournament with a 2-1 win over USF. With the Men’s team, they made it to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after also beating rival USF and losing in OT to College Cup team North Carolina.
Cerda has also worked with the marketing department for the MLS club Orlando City SC and has a bachelor’s degree in communication from FGCU.
