Owen McCorkle spent his first season on FGCU's staff as associate head coach in 2025, a campaign that opened with a 2-1 win at SIUE on August 21, sparked by a two-goal game from Caio Oliveira. The season went on to produce a 6-7-3 overall record and a 2-3-1 mark in the ASUN. Along the way, FGCU picked up wins over Memphis (3-1), Florida Memorial (4-0), and Houston Christian (2-0), plus 1-0 shutout victories over conference rivals North Florida and Stetson. The Eagles also picked up a draw against a No. 18-ranked Gardner-Webb squad, a result punctuated by Victor Lopes' goal that landed on SportsCenter's Top 10 as the night's No. 3 play. Under McCorkle and the rest of the staff, FGCU produced a steady run of weekly conference recognition: Oliveira, Edson Murguia, and Salvador Martinez each earned ASUN Player of the Week honors, Lopes was tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week twice with Ignatius DeMark adding a third, and Oliver Weng was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week.

That individual success carried into the season awards, as Oliveira and Lopes were both named to the All-ASUN Second Team. Oliveira closed the year with five goals and three assists, starting all 16 matches and ranking second on the roster with 1,246 minutes played; his five goals tied for third in the ASUN and led the Eagles outright. Lopes anchored the backline for all 16 starts and led the team with 1,396 minutes, playing the full 90 in 14 of those matches, and he added an assist in the win over Jacksonville on October 11. The Eagles shined in the classroom as well, with Lopes, Linus Dahl, Shachar Nissim, and Arber Shala earning ASUN All-Academic Team honors, while Oliveira and Lopes doubled up with CSC Academic All-District Team recognition.
 

Prior to FGCU, McCorkle spent the last six seasons with the Tulsa men's soccer program, most recently serving as an assistant coach for two seasons before earning a promotion to Associate Head Coach before the 2024 campaign.

During his tenure, Tulsa has recorded a 43-37-13 overall record.  McCorkle has coached 20 student-athletes to The American all-conference honors, 5 to all-rookie team accolades, and 8 to all-tournament team honors. He helped three Tulsa student-athletes earn all-conference honors in 2024, with freshman Alex Cunningham, upperclassmen Alvaro Torrijos, & Wes Bottenburg earning spots on the 1st and 2nd all-conference teams, respectively.

Tulsa had a 10-5-2 mark during the 2022 season, including three wins over top-25 opponents, and made its 13th appearance in the NCAA Championship, advancing to the Third Round during the 2022 campaign.  Mariano Fazio and Alex Meinhard were both named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List, Fazio was named as a 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s All-America third team honoree, and Fazio, Alex Lopez, Meinhard, and Henry Sach picked up United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors.  For the American Athletic Conference, Fazio was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Lopez was tabbed as the Goalkeeper of the Year, both for the second-straight season.  Fazio, Lopez, Meinhard and Sach earned first-team all-conference accolades and Wes Bottenburg was selected to the all-rookie team.

In 2021, Tulsa had a historic season, tying a program-best of 16 wins, was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally, claimed The American regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Championship third round.  McCorkle helped coach Fazio to 2021 NCAA Division I Men's All-America third-team honors, while Lopez was named the 2021 Top Drawer Soccer Freshman of the Year, and five players were tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches all-east region teams.  The Tulsa men's soccer team claimed every American Athletic Conference honor possible in 2021, including Offensive Player of the Year (Alex Meinhard), Defensive Player of the Year (Mariano Fazio), Midfielder of the Year (Henry Sach), Goalkeeper of the Year (Alex Lopez), Rookie of the Year (Alex Lopez), and Coaching Staff of the Year.

During the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Tulsa only played American Athletic Conference games before The American Championship and posted a 6-4-2 record for a second-place finish. Alex Meinhard was named The American Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year and picked up all-conference and all-Rookie team accolades.

McCorkle was instrumental in coaching Lopez to Top Drawer Soccer Freshman of the Year, United Soccer Coaches all-east region team, American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year accolades, as well as The American all-conference and all-Rookie team honors in 2021.  Lopez also finished the season ranked seventh in the nation in goals-against average (.723).

McCorkle also served as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University for two seasons (2017-18).

McCorkle was a four-year letterwinner at Florida Atlantic (2013-16), playing in 55 games as a defender.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic in exercise science and health promotion in 2016, and his master’s degree in health care delivery sciences from Tulsa in 2022.
