Guillermo Laguna

Guillermo Laguna joined FGCU men's soccer as an assistant coach in February 2025.

Coach Laguna comes to Fort Myers after spending the last three seasons as the top assistant for Iowa Western Community College under head coach Mike Brown.

During his tenure, he helped the Reivers to a 45-7-8 overall record, including an undefeated and record-breaking season in 2024, capping it with the third NJCAA National Championship in program history. Laguna was also instrumental in coaching six student-athletes to NJCAA All-American selections, along with the 2024 NJCAA National Player of the Year, NJCAA Tournament MVP, NJCAA Most Valuable Offensive Player, NJCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player, and former Reiver, Roman Torres, who was drafted 25th overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by Minnesota United FC.

As Assistant Coach, Laguna’s primary roles were international recruiting coordinator, defensive set pieces, leading the attackers’ unit, and coordinating team travel logistics. He also assisted the coaching staff in the program's day-to-day operations.

Laguna graduated with a degree in Sport Management and Communication from Graceland University. Upon completing his first year as a collegiate coach, he also obtained his USSF C License and his Master’s in Sport Management through the Johan Cruyff Institute and the University of Barcelona.

Laguna also served as a head coach for Evolution SC for three seasons (2022-25) and was an assistant coach at Graceland University for one season (2021).

Before his coaching career, Laguna played for Graceland University from 2017-2020 and was a team captain for the men's soccer program during his junior and senior seasons, earning Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honors in 2019 and 2020.
