Dominic Morris joined FGCU men’s basketball in June 2025 and serves as an assistant coach.
In his first season in Fort Myers, Morris helped FGCU to numerous accomplishments during the 2025-26 campaign, including the first ASUN semifinal appearance since 2021 and the first time winning multiple games in the ASUN Tournament since 2018. FGCU went on its longest home winning streak since 2022, and its longest home conference winning streak since 2019 with six consecutive wins at home to close out the season, including an electric overtime win over Central Arkansas on senior day that featured multiple SportsCenter Top 10 highlights in JR Konieczny’s halfcourt inbounds pass to Isaiah Malone for the buzzer-beating, game-tying layup in regulation, and Jordan Ellerbee’s game-winning fastbreak dunk in overtime..
The FGCU defense buoyed it to the winning streak and ASUN semifinal appearance, as the Eagles led the conference in field goal percentage defense (44.7%) and 2-point field goal percentage defense (52.1%). FGCU’s identity of rebounding was also on display, as the team’s 36.91 rebounds per game led the ASUN. The Eagles 11 home wins marked the first time since 2017-18 and 2018-19 with back-to-back years with double-digit victories at Alico Arena.
Prior to FGCU, Morris went from professional basketball to corporate America. He joined Webster Bank as a Portfolio Manager, where he managed a $2B+ client portfolio on a property management team. He became known for leading strategic planning sessions, building strong client relationships, and representing the bank at major industry events across the Northeast.
These experiences sharpened his skills in leadership, communication, and relationship-building — the same tools he now applies to recruiting, mentoring, and player development at FGCU.
Morris played professionally overseas for ten seasons, competing at the highest levels across Romania, Argentina, Switzerland, Ukraine, Belgium, France, Finland, and Israel. His journey culminated in a Swiss League Championship in 2021, cementing his status as a winner and veteran leader.
As a college basketball player, Morris played for now-FGCU head coach Pat Chambers at Boston University from 2010-2014. Playing alongside current FGCU assistant coach DJ Irving, he helped lift BU back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002, going head-to-head with Kansas in Tulsa.
A proven leader on the court, Morris earned Patriot League Honorable Mention & First Team (2014), America East Third Team (2013), America East All-Rookie Team (2011) and won the America East Championship to qualify for the NCAA Tournament (2011).
A Penns Grove, N.J., native, Morris was raised in Newark, Delaware. Now back where his passion began, Morris brings a rare blend of Division I experience, international professional success, and corporate leadership to the Eagles’ bench. His journey reflects resilience, adaptability, and a relentless drive — qualities he instills daily in the next generation of student-athletes.
