John Rowell completed his second year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at FGCU in 2020. He has over four years of athletic training experience and currently serves as the athletic trainer for baseball.

Prior to joining FGCU, Rowell worked 3 years of Minor League Baseball within the Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants organizations.Â

During his tenure with the Red Sox, he served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Single-A affiliate Greenville Drive in 2018, as well as for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox in 2017. During his time with the organization, Rowell also spent three months in the Dominican Instructional League.Â
From November 2016 through February 2017, Rowell was an Athletic Trainer for American River College, where he provided athletic training services for 20 junior college athletic teams, as well as supervised and taught athletic training students.
Prior to that, Rowell was an Intern Athletic Trainer for the Sacramento Rivercats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, during the 2016 season.

Rowell is from Winters, California, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Sacramento State University in 2016. He is also currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Health Science at FGCU.

Rowell is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, and is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in Florida and South Carolina. He is also certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by the American Red Cross. Â
