Buckingham Property - Aerial

Home To: Men's and Women's Cross Country

On January 19, 2010, Florida Gulf Coast University inherited the 500 acre Buckingham property in east Fort Myers from the state of Florida. Previously the site of the Gulf Coast Center, Buckingham looks like a suburban neighborhood with plenty of open land and plethora of future opportunities.

Long term plans for the land are yet to be determined, but the land is currently used for student services, staff retreats, and faculty research. The property contains a gymnasium, a swimming pool, kitchens, laundry rooms, recreation fields, and small dormitories.

Since FGCU’s acquisition of this land, the FGCU Cross Country teams have adopted it as the site for their home Cross Country Meets. In 2011, the FGCU Cross Country team hosted its inaugural cross country meet at Buckingham. A year later, the Buckingham Center served as the host site for the ASUN Conference Cross Country Championships.
