FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University opposite Maju Hildebrand has been named the ASUN Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday, after leading the Eagles in kills and points across a pair of home matches in the Sunshine State Classic. It is the first weekly honor of her career.

"We are very proud of Maju for earning this week's Freshman of the Week award," said head coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen. "She has worked extremely hard in her first couple of months here to be in the spot that she is right now, so for her to be rewarded with this honor is very deserving."

Hildebrand totaled a team-high 26 kills (3.25 per set) and 28.5 points (3.56 per set) over eight sets, adding 19 digs and three blocks as FGCU split the week against Florida Atlantic and West Virginia.

The Florianópolis, Brazil native opened the week with a double-double in Thursday's 3-1 win over Florida Atlantic, posting 13 kills, 14 digs and three blocks. She followed with another 13 kills, an ace and five digs in Saturday's four-set battle with West Virginia.

Hildebrand has reached double-digit kills in all five matches of her collegiate career and leads the Eagles with 71 kills (3.98 per set) on the season.
