FGCU looks to build momentum at Virginia

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's soccer remains in the state of Virginia to take on UVA at 6 p.m. on Monday night.

The Eagles look to continue their momentum after recording their first win of the season in dramatic fashion over Liberty. FGCU took down the Flames 3-2 behind goals from Brooks Beeman, Emerson LaOrden and Flavio D'Angelo. Marco Santana made six saves, including two clutch plays in the waning moments of the contest to preserve the lead.

Beeman and LaOrden are tied for the ASUN lead in goals at two on the season with Queens' Luis Vera Mayorca and Jacksonville's Matias Tobon. Beeman and Vera Mayorca have each fired eight shots, splitting the top mark in the conference.

The Cavaliers enter Monday's contest at 1-2-0, after defeating American on Friday night 4-0. UVA lost to UCLA and No. 16 High Point in its first weekend of competition. Virginia has seven goals from six different players – Marcos Dos Santos has two goals on 11 shots, and Brendan Lambe has a trio of assists. Spencer Sanderson has nine saves to five goals allowed and has totaled all 270 minutes in goal.

Monday's matchup will be the first between the Eagles and Cavaliers.
