FGCU opens second half of ASUN season at Queens on Friday

Games on Friday and Sunday will be on ESPN+

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU will begin the second half of its Atlantic Sun Conference season this weekend as the Eagles travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a three-game series at Queens.

The series opens on Friday at 6 p.m. with an ESPN+ broadcast and will close on Sunday at 1 p.m. with an ESPN+ broadcast. Saturday's game will also start at 6 p.m. but will not have a broadcast.

In the first go around, FGCU swept the Royals in a three-game series at Swanson Stadium, outscoring Queens 17-3.  However, this Queens (10-26, 6-9 ASUN) team has rebounded, winning two of three from Stetson last week.
The Eagles (22-13, 7-7) were recently revived by a 4-1 series finale win against Jacksonville, then went on the road and powered their way past Florida Atlantic, 8-6.

That should come as no surprise to fans of the Green & Blue, as this team has consistently been powerful at the plate. FGCU leads the ASUN and is eighth nationally in hits (405) and batting average (.323), while also ranking 35th nationally in slugging percentage (.497).

On the mound, the Eagles are just as dangerous. Not only does Florida Gulf Coast lead the ASUN in batting average, but the Eagles' pitchers also have the league's lowest ERA (4.83) and also lead the conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.53) and strikeouts per nine innings (10.6).

Queens can be dangerous once they reach base. The Royals rank third in the league in stolen bases per game (1.58) and will utilize a small ball game to advance runners otherwise.
