DELAND, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's basketball (14-17, 8-10 ASUN) fell in the regular season finale 78-63 to Stetson (11-20, 7-11) on Saturday.
The Hatters earned the win behind a 22 point performance from Ethan Copeland. Jake Johnson scored 17 for Stetson, which led for 38:06 of the game. Collin Kuhl added a 10 point, 10 rebound double-double, and Calvin Sirmans III scored 10 points with nine assists.
Stetson outrebounded FGCU 36-24 en route to the win, and the Hatters scored 12 second chance points to the Eagles' two.
The Eagles led twice in the first two minutes of the game before Stetson took the lead with a 10-2 run. The Hatters led for the rest of the game, shooting 55.8% from the field and 52.4% from 3-point range while holding FGCU to just 40.4% shooting from the field and 25% from behind the arc.
Rahmir Barno scored 20 points for FGCU in the loss. JR Konieczny scored 17 and
Isaiah Malone posted a 15 point game, but the rest of the Eagles' offense combined for just 11 points.
The Eagles will await the result of EKU-Lipscomb to learn their ASUN Championship seed. The full ASUN bracket will be available following the conclusion of all of Saturday's games.
