Volleyball opens ASUN play at EKU Sunday, returns home for Stetson Tuesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball will open Atlantic Sun Conference play Sunday at EKU in Richmond, Kentucky, at 12 noon before returning home to face Stetson Tuesday at 5 p.m.

This will be the seventh meeting between the Eagles (5-5, 0-0 ASUN) and the Colonels (9-4, 1-0 ASUN), and  FGCU dominates the series 5-1. The teams last met on Nov. 22, 2024, when FGCU won 3-1 during the ASUN Championship semifinals and advanced to the championship match.

The Green & Blue has faced Stetson 37 times before and leads the series 35-2. The Eagles swept the Hatters 3-0 on Oct. 15, 2024.

FGCU is coming off a 3-1 loss at Miami on Sept.19 while EKU  won 3-1 Friday at Bellarmine. Stetson fell 3-1 versus George Washington on Saturday. 

Erica Muhizi was named ASUN Freshman of the Week after tallying 14 blocks, averaging 1.88 blocks per set. She also contributed offensively with 12 kills. Muhizi helped FGCU defeat FIU, as she recorded six blocks and added five kills on seven attacks for a .714 hitting percentage
