Rain halts third round of Amherst Regional

Heavy rain and thunderstorms forced the stoppage of the third round of the NCAA Men's Golf Amherst Regional in Amherst, Virginia, with no one through nine holes in the final round.

At the stoppage, Florida Gulf Coast University sits in sixth place, just one stroke behind Arizona for fifth and the final spot in the NCAA Championships.

Tom Scullion has the lowest round going for FGCU entering the delay, recording a birdie on No. 14 to sit at 1-under through five holes. Nolan Harper is 1-over on his round through five, with Brett Moore and Sebastian Gamboa each 2-over through six. Christian Figueredo is FGCU's fifth golfer on the course at 5-over through seven.

The final round at Poplar Grove Golf Club is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
